The new Environment Centre for Wales brought together 60 environmental scientists from the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and the University of Wales, Bangor, whose combined scienti fix knowledge cuts across tradi tional academic boundaries. The new ways of working are designed to be extended into every aspect of the organisa tion, including how the new building is laid out internally. With this in mind, workplace consultants 1st Architects were employed to advise on crea ting a workplace to support staff and maximise the opportuni ties for crea tive interac tion.
